Areas of responsibility

I and my busy family which includes an energetic English Pointer  enjoy living in Appledore.
Fortunately, I work most of the week from home for a  corporate law firm in Moorgate in business financial services.
Outside work I am involved as a Liveryman in the Haberdashers Livery Company (the primary purpose of which is running a number of schools and academies across England & Wales)
I enjoy running, cycling, open water swimming all year round (chilly in the Rother in early January!!), golf, tennis and cricket. And will happily watch football and rugby although my participation days are long gone.

Community Representative

Born on Romney Marsh, I've lived in Appledore since 2014 with my wife and three children.

My career background is in IT and specifically Cybersecurity managing large companies predominantly in Asia.

My passions orient around environmental protection and maintaining the quality of rural village life.

My focus as a councillor will be to maintain and improve Appledore as an elected representative of the residents.

Resilience Plan

Lauren and I moved into the village 3 years ago, having spent a year waiting to complete on the purchase of this house - it was certainly worth the wait! It has proved to be a wonderful place to grow our family, having had our fourth son this January. The 6 of us are very happy here indeed, and have greatly enjoyed getting to know the community and enjoying everything the area has to offer.

I am fortunate enough to work from home most of the time, managing a footwear wholesale company operating both in the UK and Germany - between both country's offices there are around 25 employees. I have been doing this for the last decade, having taken on the company from my father, who himself started the UK business in the 80's.

I have lived in Appledore since 2003. I am married to Denise and have 4 sons and 7 grandchildren. I am a retired business man having worked for an international papermaking company entailing extensive travel to many parts of the world.

I have been a member of the parish council since 2016 as lead member for Highways and Byways. Having achieved a number of changes including the reduction and extension to the speed limits in the village, I have recently decided to stand down. But I shall remain on the council and will continue to apply my life experience to working as a team towards the challenges ahead.

Recreation Ground Committee

I moved to Appledore in 1975 whilst working as a freelance consulting engineer, mostly within the UK, before initially becoming an associate director of Barcol Ltd and then consequently establishing its Kent office in 1995. I am married to Marilyn with two grown up children, my son currently residing in New Zealand and my daughter in mid Kent.
I first became a Parish Councillor 2003 and served latterly for several years as Vice Chairman until the election of 2015 when I chose not to stand again.  However when the current parish council found itself short of members, I was approached to re-stand and now find myself once again a Parish Councillor.

It is good to be back and with six new enthusiastic Councillors with fresh ideas which is so important for the future benefit of the village.

HR & Training

I was born in George Town, British Guyana and have resided in Kent since I was 3 years of age.  I am married and have 3 children, (Anna, Nick and Andrew). We moved to Wittersham in 2006.

Following my time at University and my initial career in the Insurance sector, I have had the benefit of being able to watch my children grow up into young people to be proud of. Along the way, I have had the support of my family, as I kept myself busy with voluntary work at the schools attended by my children and with the organisations and groups where my children have participated.

I have been fortunate to travel widely during my student days and later accompanying my husband who worked and lived overseas for extended periods of time, but I have to say there is little that outstrips the beautiful Kent countryside.

Message to Parishoners
Ten years ago I began working as Parish Clerk for Iden Parish Council, just as the role of Clerk took on yet another dimension with the 2011 Localism Bill providing small Parishes with the opportunity to have greater influence in the provision of services tailored to the needs of residents. It is an exciting time to provide support and assistance to Councillors as they seek to meet Parishioners requirements and expectations.

I enjoy being involved in community life and look forward to actively participating on behalf of the Appledore Parish Council and the Parishioners of Appledore.
