Appledore Recreation Ground
The facilities you now see have grown and developed from a Recreation Ground conveyed in 1971 from the Parish Council to a Charitable Body, the Appledore Recreation Ground Management Committee, which is run by its Trustees and a very active committee.
They are responsible for the ground, the building, the facilities and their use, and as a charity reports annually to the Charities Commission.
The ground is maintained to a high standard for sport, recreational and leisure use to be undertaken and there is also a pavilion modernised and enlarged in 2005. The main recreational facilities are the splendid land drained full size football pitch which is regularly used by our own and another local team, a hard surface tennis court and 5-a-side football area forming the newly renovated MUGA.
In addition a very popular play area for children was doubled in size in 2010 with a substantial Lottery Grant.
We welcome anybody who would like to enjoy our facilities, either from the Appledore Parish or further afield. We are able to hire out the ground and pavilion if you would like to hold a particular event on the Recreation Ground.
In July we hold an annual Appledore Vintage and Classic Vehicle show and fair.
